AD7986 is a 18bit, 2 MSPS successive approximation analogue-to-digital converter (ADC). It contains a low power, high speed, 18bit sampling ADC, an internal conversion clock, an internal reference (and buffer), error correction circuits, and a versatile serial interface port. On the rising edge of CNV, this samples the voltage difference between the IN+ and IN− pins. This pin voltage usually swing opposite phases between 0V and VREF. It features a very high sampling rate turbo mode (TURBO = high) and a reduced power normal mode (TURBO = low) for low power applications where the power is scaled with the throughput. Application includes battery-powered equipment, data acquisition systems, medical instruments, and seismic data acquisition systems.

- Low power dissipation, minimum resolution is 18bits (AVDD=DVDD=2.5V, TA=-40 to +85°C)
- Typical power dissipation is 29mW (2 MSPS throughput, AVDD=DVDD=2.5V, TA=-40 to +85°C)
- Typical signal-to-noise ratio, SNR is 94.5dB (fIN =20KHz, VREF=4.096V, internal, TA =-40 to +85°C)
- Typical integral nonlinearity error is ±1LSB (AVDD=DVDD=2.5V, BVDD=5V, TA =-40 to +85°C)
- Ability to daisy-chain multiple ADCs with busy indicator
- Allows use of any input range, no pipeline delay
- Typical power supply sensitivity is ±4LSB (AVDD=2.5V ±5%, TA=−40°C to +85°C)
- Operating temperature rating range from -40 to +85°C
- 20-lead frame chip scale package [LFCSP]
