The NI-9997 allows you to route external excitation to both modules and sensors, and it offers channel-to-channel, CAT II isolation. You can use the NI-9997 to protect your system from dust and debris in industrial settings while adding functionality and routing sensor excitation. The NI-9997 does not provide an external connection to the chassis backplane.
